The Chronicle of Dokdo 1905 by Young-June Yeh
The most persuasive grounds on which Japanese claims its territorial rights on Dokdo rests on Japan's territorial incorporation on Dokdo in 1905. Korea views this territorial incorporation as the initiation of Japan's exploitation; that is, the prelude of the Eulsa Treaty in November 1905 and forceful annexation of Korea in 1910. When I found Yamaza Enjiro who contributed greatly to the exploitation of the Korean Peninsula by way of implementing numerous diplomatic tactics in collaboration with the Genyosha Ronin, I came to doubt if I could find a clue to solve the territorial issue in his story.
This book does not include any episode about the incorporation of Dokdo. Nevertheless, the book clearly explains Yamaza Enjiro's beliefs, ideas and diplomatic goals. Accordingly, it is sufficient enough to speculate the purpose of his pushing forward with the territorial incorporation of Dokdo and his suggestions and role in the process of discussion within the Japanese government.

This book was written for general readers who are interested in the Dokdo issue. For the reader's convenience, I divided the book into two sections: The first half focuses on the process of territorial incorporation prior to 1905 by reconstructing the history using the sources discovered so far. Nakai Yozaburo was the central character in this part. In addition to this, I introduced historical events that show problems in the process of territorial incorporation of Dokdo. In the second half, the life of Yamaza Enjiro who played a key role in territorial incorporation was examined. Particularly, I focused on the investigation of how he developed his career in Korea and associated with the people around him to study how he influenced the Russo-Japanese War.
